About the Exam
SSC GD Constable Exam is conducted annually by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of General Duty Constables in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) — BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, SSF and Assam Rifles.
The selection process includes a Computer Based Test, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Medical Examination.

Eligibility
Educational Qualification: 10th pass (Matriculation) from a recognised board.
Age Limit: 18 to 23 years as on the notification date, with relaxations of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST (PwD relaxations as applicable).
Physical Standards (male): Height 170 cm (relaxed 165 cm for certain states), Chest 80-85 cm. Female: Height 157 cm. Relaxations apply for specified categories and regions.
Physical Efficiency: Male must complete 5 km race in 24 minutes and 9 ft long jump (2 attempts); female 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes and 4.5 ft long jump.

Selection Process
- CBT: Computer-based test of 160 marks (screening + merit)
- PET: Physical Efficiency Test (race + long jump) — qualifying

Final merit list is prepared from CBT scores of candidates who clear PET/PST and medical standards, followed by document verification.
Salary
SSC GD Constable pay scale: Level-3 (₹21,700 – ₹69,100).
In-hand salary is approximately ₹28,000 – ₹35,000 per month including DA, HRA, Risk Allowance, Ration Money and other allowances specific to CAPFs.
