The 70 backlog vacancies (1st Special Drive, from Notification No. 06-PSC(DR-P) of 2023 & 17-PSC(DR-P) of 2023) are distributed across the following disciplines, with category-wise breakup:

For most disciplines, candidates must fulfil either of the following:

• Option A: A Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently Abled/PhD degree holders who obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 September 1991), or an equivalent grade on a point scale, in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Candidates must also have cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or an equivalent test accredited by UGC such as SLET/SET, OR hold a PhD degree awarded in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of M.Phil/PhD Degree) Regulations 2009 or 2016 (subject to specified conditions such as evaluation by two external examiners, an open PhD viva voce, and publication/presentation of research papers). NET/SLET/SET is not required for disciplines in which it is not conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar accredited bodies.
• Option B: A PhD Degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the world by QS World University Rankings, The Times Higher Education (THE), or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

For the Music discipline specifically, candidates may alternatively qualify as a traditional and professional artist with commendable achievement in the subject, who has studied under noted/reputed traditional masters, holds "A" grade Artist status of AIR/Doordarshan, and has the ability to teach theory with illustrations in the discipline concerned.

JKPSC Assistant Professor Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 1 January 2026. Candidates seeking consideration under a reserved category must possess a valid requisite category certificate on the cut-off date; false or fraudulent certificate claims will lead to debarment from JKPSC examinations.

JKPSC Assistant Professor Salary

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Pay Band of ₹15,600–39,100 with Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of ₹6,000 (Pre-revised), equivalent to ₹57,000 in Level-10 of the applicable pay matrix.
